In coffee lingo, blooming means the part of the brewing process in which coffee grounds absorb hot water, swell and release bubbly gases. It is an important little mediation pause before pouring the rest of the water. Unfortunately Moccamaster folks never get to see this little science show.
I set my goal to make the most compact coffee maker possible with least amount material wasted. Bloom coffee maker is an origami in its essence: the flimsy carton material gains rigidity from folds and can be collapsed into minuscule size. One rubber band and one glue seam are enough to hold the shape together. Bloom is sized for four-cup V60 filter papers which are the industry standard among coffee aficionados.
Bloom is an ideal promotional item for coffee roasteries and cafeterias. It is also a smart and lightweight companion for camping. It lasts between 5-10 brews after which it can be burned or recycled. Bloom is available for licencing.
